The Course

It is commonly known that some students will not get their ratings in the minimum hours. OFT have allowed extra time in the Pro Pilot course to ensure that you are working to a realistic budget. If you complete the course in minimum hours you can use that time to build extra hours. For instance the FAA Part 141 Instrument rating is a fixed minimum of 35 hours simulated instrument flying. To accomplish this, you will need to allow for time not spent "Under the Hood". We at OFT are not covering this fact up, and have allowed for in in the course price.

We have put the price together using the Piper Cadet, a four seat aircraft that is more comfortable for you to learn in. Most other schools will reduce their price by replacing the Piper with a C-152 just to match our price.

When you complete the program with us, we will then give you two hours in the PA-28 at no cost to you. This will take those who have completed in the minimum time to 200 hrs.

Instrument Rating Conversion to JAA

Once you have completed all of the above steps, you will need to return to Europe to convert your instrument rating. Prices for this vary, but can be between £3,500 to £6,000 depending upon where you decide to convert. This may seam expensive, but consider the whole JAA Instrument rating in Europe will cost around £14,000 if completed in the aircraft.

All students from the Pro-Pilot Course can attend Cabair in the UK for a special discounted rate, flying the brand new Diamond Star Twin Aircraft.

Duration & Start Dates

The course duration is approximately 9 months for those who finish in the minimum times. However, although this is a very realistic timetable, it is always prudent in flight training to add a few weeks onto such a large course, to allow for any delays in weather etc.

To help you stay with a group of students who all train together, we have brought in set start dates for the JAA Pro Pilot Program. These dates for the up coming year are as follows:

Monday 5th November (FULL)

Wednesday 2nd January 2008 (FULL)

March 2008 (13 Places Remaining)

Allowances

If you have flown before you get here, we will accept this towards your licence, and credit you accordingly at the Pro-Pilot aircraft rate of $99 per hour.

Example: You have flown 35 hours prior to arrival

$35,995 - (35 x $99) = New course price of $32,530

If you have a complete JAA Private Pilots Licence, $5,620 will be deducted from the course price, and then you will be charged only for the training required to convert this to the FAA licence. Usually this can be done in around 7 hours which also includes your night rating. There is no requirement to pay for a JAA night rating as this is included in the FAA PPL.
